A murderer who executed a daring escape from a prison yard in suburban Philadelphia remained at large on Thursday as the search entered its second week.
Local residents, who endured a tense situation with heavily armed law enforcement personnel searching for the fugitive in their neighborhood for several days, voiced their frustration over the ongoing search and anxiety stemming from the lockdown.
Danilo Souza Cavalcante, a 34-year-old individual from Brazil, managed to break free from the Chester County prison on August 31st, the Associated Press reported.
He accomplished this by scaling a wall, traversing razor wire, and leaping from a roof. Authorities report that prison guards did not detect the escape until an entire hour had elapsed.
Deemed highly dangerous, Cavalcante has been sighted on at least six occasions since his escape.
Authorities are actively shifting and enlarging their search boundaries, which now encompass a sprawling region teeming with dense forests and thick underbrush, as local residents remain in a state of heightened apprehension.
