Fox News Digital has verified that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, a Republican from California, is slated to inform House Republicans today that commencing an impeachment inquiry against President Biden represents “the next sensible course of action.”

The House GOP conference has scheduled a meeting for Thursday morning, during which key committee chairs will provide updates on their latest discoveries and the status of investigations related to the Biden family.

This meeting will be led by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan, a Republican from Ohio, and House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky, Fox News reported.

During this meeting, McCarthy is anticipated to emphasize that launching an impeachment inquiry is the “logical progression” for the Republican majority.

An impeachment inquiry serves as the initial phase of the impeachment process, involving the collection of evidence for potential articles or charges of impeachment against an official.

It’s worth noting that this special conference meeting on Thursday is in addition to the regularly scheduled weekly GOP meeting held on Wednesday mornings, where leadership typically outlines the week’s priorities.

The scheduled Thursday meeting was initially reported by Punchbowl News.
