Biden and Zelensky to meet in US next week

Multiple officials familiar with the matter have revealed that US President Joe Biden is planning to hold a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky next week during the United Nations General Assembly sessions.

It is currently unclear whether this meeting will take place in New York or later in the week at the White House. However, one source indicated that Zelensky is expected to travel to Washington, D.C., following his visit to New York.

Both Biden and Zelensky are scheduled to deliver addresses to the assembly on Tuesday, CNN reported.

Zelensky intends to utilize his in-person appearance at the annual meeting to appeal for increased support for Ukraine as it continues its efforts to counter Russia.

In addition to addressing the assembly, he plans to hold several meetings with world leaders in New York, as reported by sources.

One of his primary objectives will be to encourage nations that have not taken a strong stance against the conflict to adopt a more assertive position in condemning Russia.

Among his scheduled meetings is one with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, an announcement made by the Israeli government on Thursday.
