NASA has unveiled its groundbreaking report on UFOs as the space agency advocates for enhanced tracking using artificial intelligence (AI) to aid in the quest for signs of extraterrestrial life.
This report, undertaken by a team of 16 experts from NASA, delved into the collection of data on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAPs) from various sources, including the US government and private sectors.
NASA defines UAPs as events occurring in the sky that defy identification as conventional aircraft or known natural occurrences from a scientific standpoint, the Daily Sun reported.
The space agency underscores the unique scientific opportunity presented by the study of UAPs, emphasizing the need for a rigorous, evidence-based approach.
NASA’s approach to tackling this challenge involves implementing novel and robust data collection techniques, employing advanced analysis methods, establishing a systematic reporting framework, and reducing the stigma associated with reporting such phenomena.
During a conference held on Thursday to discuss the report, NASA’s administrator, Bill Nelson, clarified that the study did not conclude that UAPs originate from extraterrestrial sources.
The head of NASA also announced that the space agency plans to harness the power of AI and machine learning (ML) to aid in the quest for extraterrestrial life throughout the cosmos.
Nelson stated that NASA’s research, stemming from discoveries made by the James Webb Space Telescope, indicates the existence of at least a trillion Earth-like planets.
