Late Wednesday night, authorities successfully apprehended a man who stands accused of the murder of a Baltimore tech CEO, as reported by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Deputy U.S. Marshal Albert Maresca Jr. revealed overnight that Jason Billingsley was taken into custody at a train station located in Bowie, Prince George’s County.
Acting Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley announced during a news conference on Thursday morning that SWAT officers managed to arrest Billingsley without any incident.
Jason Billingsley, aged 32, has been arrested on charges of first-degree murder and additional offenses linked to the death of Pava LaPere, WBALTV reported.
LaPere was discovered deceased on Monday in her apartment building in Baltimore, and her demise was subsequently determined to be a homicide resulting from strangulation, according to the medical examiner’s findings.
A court charging document, obtained by 11 News, outlines the events leading up to the discovery of LaPere’s body.
It indicates that security camera footage depicted LaPere in the lobby when an unidentified man arrived at the door and gestured to her. “The victim opens the lobby door and began to talk to the unknown male … they get into an elevator together,” the charging document details.
Later, the same man is observed on video attempting to exit “by a stairwell scrambling to find an exit” and he was noted “seen wiping his right hand on his shorts before exiting,” as described in the charging document.
