Apple races software update after iPhones overheating

Apple has announced that it will release a software update in response to customer complaints regarding the recent iPhone 15 models, which were launched just over a week ago and have been reported to run hot.

According to Apple, the elevated temperature issue in the new iPhone models is attributable to a combination of factors, including bugs in iOS 17, app-related issues, and a temporary setup period.

Following the release of the iPhone 15 models earlier this month, user feedback on Apple’s forums, Reddit, and social media indicated that all four models could experience higher temperatures than expected during usage.

CNBC’s review of the new iPhone Pros also noted that the iPhone 15 Pro Max exhibited heating issues, CNBC reported.

It’s important to note that the overheating problem with the new models is unrelated to the titanium chassis design found in Apple’s high-end models, the $999 iPhone 15 Pro and $1,199 iPhone 15 Pro Max, which feature a redesigned titanium enclosure with an aluminum frame to enhance repairability.

Instead, Apple has attributed the overheating concerns to specific app-related bugs and a bug within iOS, both of which can be rectified through software updates.

Importantly, Apple reassured users that the forthcoming iOS 17 update aimed at addressing this issue will not compromise the performance of the devices.
