
Authorities announced that a tragic incident claimed the lives of at least 13 individuals when a fire engulfed three nightclubs located on the outskirts of the Spanish city of Murcia.
This devastating incident unfolded at the Teatre nightclub in Atalayas, as reported by the Emergency Coordination Center of the southeastern city.
Images shared on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, depicted billowing clouds of smoke emanating from the establishment, with pictures from the city’s fire department revealing the charred exterior of the building.
Additionally, the photos revealed extensive damage to the nightclub’s roof caused by the fire, NBC News reported.
The department disclosed that they had dispatched 40 firefighters and 12 vehicles to combat the fire, which ignited in the early hours of Sunday morning.
As the morning progressed, officials continued to provide updates on the escalating death toll.
In the most recent update shared on X, the Emergency Coordination Center reported that 13 individuals had tragically lost their lives, with four others sustaining injuries in the blaze.
Furthermore, they expressed concerns that the number of fatalities might increase and announced the deployment of a team of psychologists to offer support to the families of the victims.
