A 34-year-old man from New Jersey now faces terrorism charges following allegations that he intentionally drove his SUV into a residence and a police station, all while playing Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle” at high volume from his stereo.

John G. Hargreaves was promptly apprehended as his Toyota SUV crashed into the lobby of the Independence Township Police Department.

Upon exiting the vehicle, he raised his hands and index fingers, mimicking a celebratory touchdown, according to law enforcement, ABC News reported.

“The entire vehicle came to a final resting place in the squad room. The defendant exited the vehicle and appeared to be celebrating as officers apprehended him on scene as his car stereo blared the song ‘Welcome to the Jungle,'” according to a statement from Warren County Prosecutor James Pfeiffer.

Surveillance video of the incident released by authorities showed the SUV plowing through a wall of the police station on Sept. 20 and causing “significant damage,” Pfeiffer said.

Just moments prior to the collision at the police station, it is claimed that Hargreaves intentionally drove his vehicle through the garage door of a residence in nearby Liberty Township, New Jersey, as reported by Pfeiffer.

“The investigation showed that at approximately 6:17 p.m. (on Sept. 20), the defendant deliberately crashed his gold Toyota SUV into the garage of a private residence in an attempt to scare or harass the homeowner, who the defendant knew,” Pfeiffer said in his statement.

Authorities suspect that Hargreaves deliberately chose the Independence Township Police Department as his target for the crash because it was the closest law enforcement facility to the scene of the Liberty Township incident.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries in either of these events.

Subsequent to the crash at the police station, John G. Hargreaves, a resident of Belvidere, New Jersey, was detained and booked at the Warren County Correctional Center.

He faces one count of first-degree terrorism and one count of causing widespread injury or damage, as stated by Pfeiffer.

In the event of a conviction on the terrorism charge, Hargreaves could potentially receive a sentence ranging from 30 years to life imprisonment, according to Pfeiffer.
