On Thursday, a teenager was apprehended in connection with the senseless stabbing death of New York City poet and activist Ryan Carson.

The incident occurred in front of Carson’s terrified girlfriend following a wedding they had attended on Long Island, as reported by the police.

Eighteen-year-old Brian Dowling is believed to have been captured on surveillance footage, seemingly selecting Carson, 32, and his girlfriend, Claudia Morales, as random targets, Fox News reported.

Dowling was observed in a police cruiser, where he appeared to be in a state of distress. He is now facing charges, including one count of murder and one count of criminal possession of a weapon.

Following the arrest, the victim’s father, Ken Carson, took to Facebook to announce, “Assailant has been caught.”
