2 stabbed, including police officer, at Atlanta International Airport

On Wednesday afternoon, a stabbing incident occurred at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, resulting in injuries to two individuals, including a police officer.

According to the Atlanta Police Department (APD), the incident took place in the airport’s security terminal, where a police lieutenant and a female traveler sustained injuries.

As per a police statement, airport security personnel encountered a knife-wielding female located outside the security area, Fox News reported.

Authorities reported that the woman proceeded towards the south terminal, armed with a knife, and initially stabbed an adult male. During the efforts to subdue her, the knife-wielding suspect managed to also injure an APD lieutenant.

Police detailed that an officer successfully tackled the suspect, disarmed her, and subsequently took her into custody.

Both the injured individuals were transported to local hospitals, and the police reported them to be “alert, conscious, and breathing.” It was noted that the female suspect did not sustain any injuries during the encounter.
