In a recently obtained letter, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has refused to furnish House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan with further details concerning her inquiry into former President Donald Trump and his associates, along with any communications with the Justice Department, CNN reported.
“A charitable explanation of your correspondence is that you are ignorant of the United States and Georgia Constitutions and codes,” Willis wrote in her letter to Jordan, an Ohio Republican, Wednesday.
“A more troubling explanation is that you are abusing your authority as Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary to attempt to obstruct and interfere with a Georgia criminal prosecution,” she added.
While District Attorney Fani Willis had previously shared details about the federal funding received by her office, she has rejected Jim Jordan’s requests for information pertaining to her investigation and copies of any correspondence between her office and officials from the federal executive branch, particularly those within the Justice Department.
In August, the House Judiciary Committee initiated an inquiry into the activities of the Fulton County district attorney’s office, with a particular emphasis on their interactions with the Justice Department and the utilization of federal funds in their investigation.
