Israeli and U.S. officials have confirmed discussions about a potential visit by President Biden to Israel in the coming week.
Such a visit would serve both as a demonstration of support for Israel during the ongoing conflict with Hamas and as a message to Iran and Hezbollah, urging them not to become involved in the conflict.
Israeli officials disclosed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu extended an invitation to President Biden during their phone conversation on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a U.S. official mentioned that the possibility of a visit to the region is under consideration, although no final decision has been reached, Axios reported.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office has refrained from offering any comments on the matter.
Notably, President Biden has consistently expressed steadfast support for Israel in the wake of the October 7th attack by Hamas.
Additionally, the Biden administration has voiced concerns over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, which has been exacerbated by Israel’s extensive military actions and the blockade of the enclave.
