Kenneth Chesebro, a former attorney for the Donald Trump campaign, has reached a plea agreement with Georgia prosecutors just before the commencement of his trial.

Chesebro had been accused of orchestrating a fictitious group of Republican electors who falsely claimed that Donald Trump had won the 2020 election in Georgia.

In August, he was indicted alongside Trump and 18 other co-defendants, facing charges of racketeering and six conspiracy-related charges, Semafor reported.

On Friday, Chesebro entered a guilty plea to one felony count of conspiracy to submit false documents.

As part of his plea deal, he has been sentenced to five years of probation, ordered to pay $5,000 in restitution, and mandated to compose an apology letter addressed to the citizens of Georgia.

Furthermore, he is obligated to provide truthful testimony in future trials associated with this case.
