Authorities have confirmed a third fatality resulting from a weekend collision on the Pennsylvania Turnpike involving a tanker truck transporting jet fuel and two stationary cars.

The incident occurred on the northbound lanes of I-476, located on the Northeast Extension of the turnpike, just prior to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in Worcester Township, Montgomery County.

According to state troopers, a vehicle with a flat tire came to a halt in the right lane of the highway, and another vehicle pulled up behind it, with its hazard lights activated, WJAC NBC 6 reported.

The tanker truck, unable to come to a stop, collided with both vehicles, causing all three to be consumed by flames, as indicated by the police.

Earlier reports from state police confirmed the fatalities of the truck driver and the driver of the second vehicle.

On Monday, it was revealed that a passenger in the second vehicle had also lost their life. The driver of the car with the flat tire remains in the hospital, though the police did not provide information on their current condition.
