In a scathing response to Scotland Yard’s management of protests, the Prime Minister rejected assertions that law enforcement requires additional powers to address hate crimes occurring on the streets of Britain.
Instead, he urged them to fulfill their duties using the existing legal framework.
He cautioned that calls for Muslim militias to mobilize pose a threat to both the Jewish community and “our democratic values.”
Additionally, Mr. Sunak disclosed that British intelligence indicates the recent deadly explosion at a Gaza hospital was likely the result of a missile launched from the region towards Israel, the Express reported.
While updating Members of Parliament on the latest developments following the events of October 7, the Prime Minister emphasized the necessity for law enforcement to employ the “full force of the law” when dealing with extremist demonstrators.
He said: “Calls for Jihad on our streets are not only a threat to the Jewish community but to our democratic values.”
“And we expect the police to take all necessary action to tackle extremism head-on,” he said.
MPs said British Jews are “increasingly feeling unsafe” in their own country which had been made worse by the “apparent refusal of the Metropolitan Police to do anything about it”.
Downing Street stated that there is no requirement for additional measures to address extremist rhetoric during protests since law enforcement already possesses “extensive powers”.
