Amazon has introduced an innovative AI-driven technology designed to detect the tiniest irregularities in delivery vans, including issues such as tire deformations, undercarriage wear, and damaged body parts, all in an effort to prevent on-road complications.

This cutting-edge Automated Vehicle Inspection (AVI) system brings peace of mind to fleet managers who, in the past, had to depend solely on visual inspections and manual checks for daily safety assessments.

Amazon is collaborating with the tech startup UVeye to introduce the AVI technology in the United States, Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom, Amazon.com reported.

Enhancing the safety of the approximately 280,000 drivers associated with Delivery Service Partners (DSPs), such as Hart Road on a global scale, is just one of the advantages offered by this technology.

Additionally, AVI’s benefits can be expanded, a critical feature considering that DSP-affiliated drivers deliver a staggering 20 million packages to Amazon customers across the globe every day.

At the conclusion of each delivery route, drivers pass through an AVI archway and traverse a sequence of plates containing sensors and cameras.

As the vehicle moves at a speed of 5 mph, the AI system conducts a comprehensive scan of the entire vehicle within a matter of seconds, as reported by Amazon.com.

It swiftly identifies any issues, categorizes them by severity, and promptly transmits the results to a computer.

Subsequently, a DSP can ascertain the necessary repairs and maintenance tasks required to ensure that their vehicles are in optimal condition for the following day’s operations.
