Cornell University police, in conjunction with the FBI, are conducting an investigation into a series of threats directed at the university’s Jewish community in New York.
These threats were disseminated on a website not associated with the university and specifically singled out “104 West,” where the Center of Jewish Living is situated on the campus.
One of the threats included a disturbing call for individuals to follow a Jewish person to their residence and commit violence by “slitting their throats,” alongside derogatory language targeting the Jewish community at Cornell., Fox News reported.
The Steven K. and Winifred A. Grinspoon Hillel Center at the university acknowledged the threats in a social media post, affirming that the Cornell University Police Department is actively monitoring the situation and present at 104 West.
“At this time, we advise that students and staff avoid the building out of an abundance of caution,” the post read.
“Evidence suggests the targeted locations were intentionally selected because of the perpetrator’s bias,” the Cornell University Police Department wrote in a community alert.
School President Martha E. Pollack also issued a statement about the threats, calling the messages “horrendous.”
