China has unveiled ambitious intentions to engage in large-scale production of humanoid robots, viewing them as potentially as transformative as smartphones.

In a comprehensive blueprint released last week, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in China stated that these robots have the potential to “reshape the world.”

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) envisions that by 2025, these robotic products will have achieved an “advanced level” and will undergo mass production.

These pronouncements were made as part of the development goals outlined in their strategic roadmap, Business Insider reported.

“They are expected to become disruptive products after computers, smartphones, and new energy vehicles,” a translation of the document added.

According to Bloomberg, the document was characterized as “short on details but big on ambition.”

Nevertheless, it appears that certain Chinese companies are actively contributing to the realization of the nation’s ambitious robotics goals.
