One year before the 2024 election, new polls conducted by The New York Times and Siena College reveal that President Biden is trailing Donald J. Trump in five out of the six most crucial battleground states.
This decline in support can be attributed to widespread concerns about his age and deep dissatisfaction with his management of the economy and various other matters.
The poll results indicate that Mr. Biden is facing deficits of three to 10 percentage points among registered voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania when pitted against his likely Republican rival, Mr. Trump, DNYUZ reported.
In the state of Wisconsin, Mr. Biden maintains a slight lead of two percentage points. On average across these six battleground states, all of which Mr. Biden won in 2020, the President lags behind with a 48% to 44% margin.
The discontent is palpable throughout the Times/Siena poll, with a majority of voters expressing that Mr. Biden’s policies have adversely affected them personally.
Additionally, the survey highlights the erosion of the multiracial and multigenerational coalition that propelled Mr. Biden to victory in 2020.
Demographic groups that overwhelmingly supported him in the last election are now much more closely divided, as a substantial portion of the electorate believes the country is headed in the wrong direction.
