In the early hours of Saturday, a Texas police officer lost their life in a shooting incident that resulted in the death of the assailant and left another officer injured, as confirmed by authorities.

Interim Police Chief Robin Henderson, visibly emotional and occasionally pausing to compose herself during a news conference, shared that two additional individuals were discovered dead within a residence in Austin.

Henderson recounted that officers received a distress call from a woman screaming about a stabbing at the residence shortly before 3 a.m. on Saturday.

Prior to the officers’ arrival, one person managed to escape the home and informed the police that an armed man with a knife was inside, the Associated Press reported.

Upon attempting to enter the residence, the police encountered gunfire from within. However, they did not return fire, withdrew from the scene, and called for a SWAT team.

Henderson, surrounded by approximately 10 other officers during her remarks, mentioned that two officers and the suspect were hit by the gunfire.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, and the two officers were transported to a hospital.

Regrettably, one officer succumbed to their injuries, while the second remained in stable condition, Henderson reported. No questions were taken during the news conference.
