Arriving at the White House in pursuit of justice, Liberty became the focus of President Joe Biden’s annual Thanksgiving tradition on Monday.

The president exercised the time-honored turkey pardon, granting clemency to Liberty, weighing 42.5 pounds, and Bell, at 42.1 pounds.

This lighthearted event on the South Lawn provided a momentary diversion from the weighty global challenges confronting the administration.

With metaphorical roasting, President Biden engaged in a tradition of fowl-themed humor, offering a cornucopia of jokes and expressing gratitude as the holiday season commenced, CNN reported.

“These birds have a new appreciation for the word, ‘Let freedom ring,’” Biden told an audience of children of his staff and Cabinet members, local schoolkids, and others.

“That’s a big bird, man. I’m impressed,” Biden said as one of the turkeys flapped on a table. “I hereby pardon Liberty and Bell. Congratulations, birds.”

Whispers of turkey pardons date back to the Abraham Lincoln administration, weaving into the historical fabric of presidential lore.
