Suspect found dead after a teenager and 3 women killed in Memphis

Authorities have confirmed that a man suspected of fatally shooting three women and a teenager in Memphis, Tennessee, has been discovered dead after an extensive manhunt.

Memphis Police identified the individual as Mavis Christian Jr., aged 52. He was located in a vehicle on Alta Road around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Christian appeared to have sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was wanted in connection with three distinct shootings that resulted in the deaths of four individuals and left another critically injured on Saturday night.

Authorities mentioned that Christian was related to the victims, but they were unable to immediately specify the nature of the relationship, The Hill reported.

The names of the victims have not been disclosed at this time, and additional information from authorities is pending.

According to court records reported by the Commercial Appeal, Christian’s criminal history dates back to a 1996 aggravated assault charge.

In 2018, he faced charges including felony domestic violence, aggravated assault, theft, and vandalism.
