In a tragic incident on Sunday morning, two men and two women lost their lives in a murder-suicide at a homeless encampment in North Carolina, as confirmed by officials.

According to the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, residents at the Autryville homeless encampment reported hearing a verbal altercation.

The suspect, Dwane Paul Miller, 40, subsequently shot three victims multiple times before taking his own life.

The authorities were alerted to the scene just before 9:30 a.m.

All four individuals involved had been residing in two tents within the homeless encampment for several weeks, NBC News reported.

A preliminary investigation revealed ongoing domestic violence issues between Miller and one of the victims, Carrie Nicole Trampel, 41, originating from another state.

The additional victims, identified as Daniel Jay Wiltshire, 44, and Amber Rae King, 43, both hailed from Autryville. Dwane Paul Miller, the suspected shooter, was a resident of Marysville, Washington.

The nature of their relationships with Miller and Trampel remains unclear.

While the investigation is ongoing, authorities have assured the public that there is no apparent danger to the community at this time.
