On Friday in Las Vegas, a lone suspect shot five homeless individuals, resulting in one fatality, and authorities are actively seeking the perpetrator, according to officials.

The incident unfolded around 5:30 p.m. near a freeway overpass in the northeastern part of the city, as reported by Las Vegas police.

Initially, a police commander stated that two individuals had lost their lives.

However, during a subsequent briefing, Las Vegas Metro Police Department spokesperson Jason Johansson clarified that one man in his 50s had been pronounced dead, another was in critical condition, and three others were in stable condition.

“Right now we are trying to figure out what exactly happened during the shooting, the information we have is kind of conflicting,” Johansson said, the Associated Press reported.

The shooting incident follows Friday’s announcement by Los Angeles police that they are actively seeking a suspect involved in the fatal shootings of three homeless individuals in separate incidents last month.
