Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into a potential homicide after a human head was discovered in a deep freezer in the front yard of a residence on Pinyon Avenue.
Deputies from the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a suspicious incident on Pinyon Avenue at 2:30 p.m. on January 12.
The new homeowners, in the process of cleaning out various remnants from the recently sold house, stumbled upon a bag containing what appeared to be human remains.
Subsequent examinations by authorities have confirmed that it was indeed a human head, Western Slope Now reported.
As of now, this remains an active investigation by the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, and no additional information is currently available.
Officials assert that there is no perceived ongoing threat to the community.
