On Monday, the Israeli military reported that 24 soldiers were killed in Gaza, marking the deadliest day for its troops in the enclave since the conflict with Hamas began.

The majority of the casualties, 21 soldiers, occurred in a central Gaza attack, where a terrorist squad surprised IDF fighters with missiles and rockets during the demolition of “terror infrastructure and buildings.”

This incident, a few hundred meters from the eastern border, was the deadliest single event for the IDF since the ground invasion on October 27.

Additionally, three Israeli soldiers, including an IDF captain and two majors, were killed in a separate incident in southern Gaza on the same day, CNN reported.

The Hamas-controlled health ministry in Gaza reported that the number of Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks since October 7 has reached 25,295, with at least 63,000 injuries recorded.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the soldiers’ deaths as “one of the most difficult days since the outbreak of the war,” amid increasing political pressure.
