First human has received Elon Musk’s Neuralink brain chip implant

Elon Musk has sparked a division among supporters by revealing the implementation of his controversial Neuralink brain chip in a human.

According to Musk, Neuralink technology is designed to empower individuals to control their phone or other devices using their minds.

“The first human received an implant from @Neuralink yesterday and is recovering well,” Musk wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Initial results show promising neuron spike detection.”

Following the significant announcement, the Tesla CEO elaborated on the technology’s functionality. Musk explained that the inaugural Neuralink product is named Telepathy, the U.S. Sun is reporting.

“Enables control of your phone or computer, and through them almost any device, just by thinking,” he wrote. “Initial users will be those who have lost the use of their limbs.”

“Imagine if Stephen Hawking could communicate faster than a speed typist or auctioneer. That is the goal,” Musk said.

Previously, the company articulated the Neuralink mission as aiming to restore independence to individuals with “unmet medical needs,” envisioning a future where they can “unlock human potential.”
