Biden blames Trump for collapse of border bill in Congress

On Tuesday, President Biden expressed his frustration directed at former President Trump, as a bipartisan border policy package, anticipated to collapse, also included aid provisions for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.

Addressing the issue from the White House, Mr. Biden commended the bipartisan group of senators responsible for crafting the agreement on the $118 billion bill.

Biden called it “the most fair, humane reforms in our immigration system in a long time and the toughest set of reforms to secure the border ever.”

“Now, all indications are this bill won’t even move forward to the Senate floor,” he said. “Why? A simple reason: Donald Trump.”

“Because Donald Trump thinks it’s bad for him politically, even though it helps the country. He’d rather weaponize the issue than actually solve it,” Biden said.

The president urged Republican lawmakers to support the bill that aims to reform segments of the U.S. immigration system, the Washington Times reported.

However, the legislation encounters strong resistance from House Republicans and struggles to garner sufficient bipartisan backing in the Senate.
