A woman in India, initially believed to be deceased, miraculously revived just moments before her scheduled cremation.
Bujji Aamma, 52, hailing from Berhampur, suffered severe burns in a house fire on February 1.
Despite being taken to the hospital and returning home in a critical condition, financial constraints prevented her family from transferring her to another medical facility.
Several days later, due to her unresponsiveness and the family’s inability to secure additional medical assistance,
Aamma’s husband, Sibaram Palo, concluded that she had passed away. He arranged for her transportation to the cremation ground in a hearse.
However, a witness named K Chiranjibi observed Aamma opening her eyes, a sight that startled those present, Metro reported.
Palo recounted, “We thought she was dead and informed others in the locality to arrange a hearse van to carry the body to the cremation ground.”
The hearse driver was summoned back, and Aamma, found to be alive, was retrieved from the cremation ground just half an hour later. Remarkably, she was transported back home in the same hearse.
In such rare occurrences, the crematorium does not require a death certificate for performing the last rites. Although events like these are infrequent, this incident is not the first of its kind.
