Letitia James says she’s prepared to seize Trump’s buildings if he can’t pay

New York Attorney General Letitia James has stated to ABC News that she is ready to take action to seize former President Donald Trump’s assets if he fails to secure the $354 million required to satisfy the civil fraud case judgment, as mandated by a recent court order.

This announcement comes four days after the judge’s decision in the case.

“If he does not have funds to pay off the judgment, then we will seek judgment enforcement mechanisms in court, and we will ask the judge to seize his assets,” James said in an interview with ABC News’ Aaron Katersky.

On Friday, former President Donald Trump was fined $354.8 million, along with approximately $100 million in pre-judgment interest, after Judge Arthur Engoron concluded that Trump had inflated his net worth to secure more favorable loan terms.

Despite denying any wrongdoing, Trump expressed his intention to appeal the decision.

New York Attorney General Letitia James, expressing confidence in the strength of her case on appeal, reiterated that her office would not hesitate to take action, including seizing one of Trump’s properties, specifically mentioning the 40 Wall Street skyscraper, if Trump fails to secure the funds required for the court-ordered disgorgement.
