Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous has recently reopened after an extensive months-long refurbishment, unveiling not only a new menu but also introducing a novel fry robot employee named Horton.
According to team members at the Seuss Landing restaurant in Universal Islands of Adventure, a new robot, affectionately named Horton after the elephant protagonist in Dr. Seuss’ “Horton Hears a Who,” is now responsible for crafting French fries.
The FryBot, developed by Middleby’s Lab2Fab (L2F) division, adeptly gathers fries in a basket, submerges them in and out of oil for frying, and can handle two different foods, with a capacity of up to 30 pounds in each container.
The FryBot operates with full automation, requiring employees only to load fries onto a large stainless steel ramp and choose the operation mode through an included touchpad, Universal Parks News Today reported.
Subsequently, the robot picks up the basket of frozen fries, immerses them into the fryer automatically, lifts them once cooked, shakes off excess oil, and deposits the fries into a waiting metal tray.
Notably, the FryBot demonstrates adaptability to its human co-workers, promptly reducing its speed upon detecting a human in its operating range.
In the event of accidental contact with the robot arm, it can be manually reset by employees.
