The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they have eliminated a prominent Hezbollah leader, Hassan Hussein Salami, in a recent airstrike conducted in southern Lebanon.
Salami, who served as a brigade commander, met a dramatic end as his vehicle became the target during his drive in the southern Lebanon village of Majadel.
The IDF asserts that Salami played a pivotal role in leading a regional unit within Hezbollah, orchestrating attacks against Israeli soldiers and communities in the northern part of Israel.
The IDF shared that Salami had been involved in recent attacks, including the firing of anti-tank missiles at Kiryat Shmona and the base of the 769th “Hiram” Regional Brigade, the Mirror reported.
While Hezbollah has confirmed Salami’s demise, they did not provide details about his specific role as a commander.
The Israeli Defense Forces have stated it will “continue operating to defend the State of Israel from the threat of Hezbollah terrorist organization, including in aerial operations above Lebanese territory.”
