The world’s largest wireless telecom fair, the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, showcased numerous connected devices from tech companies, concluding on Thursday.
Among the innovations presented, Alef Aeronautics, a US firm, unveiled the world’s first functioning flying car, an electric-powered vehicle that has secured airworthiness certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The prototype can carry two individuals for approximately 110 miles (170 kilometers), with production of the final version anticipated to commence by the end of 2025.
Alef Aeronautics has already received nearly 3,000 pre-orders for the $300,000 vehicle.
Chinese company Tecno Mobile exhibited a robotic dog named “Dynamic 1,” inspired by the German Shepherd.
Utilizing AI and robust sensors, this robot responds to voice commands and performs lifelike actions, including bowing, shaking hands, and climbing stairs, Tech Xplore reported.
It aims to provide the experience of pet ownership without the associated challenges and can be controlled through a smartphone app.
Lenovo, a Chinese manufacturer, presented a prototype laptop featuring a 17.3-inch transparent glass screen, providing a borderless and see-through display experience.
The touch surface replaces a conventional keyboard, allowing keys to be projected or enabling the use of a special pen for drawing on the screen.
Lenovo has not disclosed the release date for this product, which offers adjustable transparency.
South Korean company Hyodol showcased a unique device named Hyodol, resembling a children’s doll but designed for seniors, as reported by Tech Xplore.
Equipped with sensors and AI-powered microprocessors, the doll can play songs, remind seniors to take medication through voice messages, and alert guardians when no movement is detected for a specified period.
Standing at 35 centimeters (14 inches) tall, Hyodol engages with users through touch and customizable time settings, such as meal times.
