In response to criticisms about a decline in the quality of its search results, Google is adjusting its algorithms to better filter out spammy and automated content.
Scheduled for release in May, the upcoming ranking updates aim to “exclude low-quality content from search.”
Notably, Google asserts that its engine will be more proficient at identifying and eliminating today’s automated, often AI-generated, content that is challenging to detect.
Drawing insights from a 2022 algorithmic enhancement designed to diminish unhelpful and unoriginal content, Google is incorporating these lessons into the new update, Engadget reported.
The company states that the modifications will channel more traffic towards “helpful and high-quality sites.”
When coupled with adjustments made two years ago, Google anticipates a 40 percent reduction in spammy and unoriginal search results.
The emphasis on tackling AI-generated SEO spam is evident in Google’s commitment to addressing scaled content abuse, as it strengthens its approach to combatting both automated articles and traditional human-created spam.
