Microsoft has decided to discontinue support for its Android subsystem in Windows 11, starting March 5th, 2025.
Despite initially introducing the integration of Android apps through Amazon’s Appstore almost three years ago, the Windows Subsystem for Android will be deprecated.
Users who currently utilize Android apps from the Amazon Appstore will maintain access beyond the support cutoff date, but the ability to download new apps will cease once Microsoft concludes its Android subsystem support next year.
As of March 6th, Windows 11 users will no longer find the Amazon Appstore or associated Android apps when searching the Microsoft Store.
This unexpected decision follows Microsoft’s consistent efforts to update the Windows Subsystem for Android in recent years, the Verge reported.
Amazon assures a seamless end-of-support experience for developers and customers of the Amazon Appstore on Windows 11 in collaboration with Microsoft.
