Kidnapped baby Halo Branton found at New York electric plant dies at hospital; no arrests announced

Tragedy struck after an 11-month-old baby, initially kidnapped in upstate New York and later discovered alive in a shed on a vast electrical plant campus, has sadly passed away at the hospital, as announced by law enforcement.

The Schenectady Police Department activated an Amber Alert for Halo Branton around 10 a.m. on Sunday, revealing that the 23-pound girl was last seen at 12th Street at Campbell Ave. at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Saturday.

The baby, reported missing from a home in the Bellevue neighborhood at around 11 p.m. Saturday, was described as a Black child with black hair, hazel eyes, and a height exceeding two feet eight inches.

Following a search, sources informed the Albany Times Union that the baby was found in a shed on the extensive General Electric campus in Schenectady, Fox News reported.

The department later canceled the Amber Alert, confirming that Branton was found “safe and in good health.”

However, the tragic turn of events unfolded when the baby was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead.

The incident, initially treated as a missing persons case, has now transitioned into a criminal investigation, according to Schenectady police officer Ryan Macherone.

As of Sunday evening, no arrests had been made, but investigators were actively interviewing multiple individuals in connection to the case.
