Taiwan admits US troops are now stationed on Chinese border

Taiwan has officially confirmed the permanent presence of US troops stationed on its islands in the Taiwan Strait, a move that could exacerbate escalating tensions with China.

The deployment of these troops was facilitated by the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) passed in 2023, aimed at conducting training programs for Taiwanese frontline forces.

This development arises amidst China’s persistent claim over Taiwan, considering it a renegade province despite lacking historical governance. China’s increased military activities in and around the Taiwan Strait have spurred Taiwan to fortify its defense capabilities.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently issued an ‘ironclad’ warning to China amid the rising tensions between the two nations, the Express reported.

In domestic politics, a recent poll indicates a tight race between Biden and Trump for the White House.

Additionally, Trump’s warning to EU countries regarding NATO’s protection, contingent upon financial contributions, further underscores global tensions.

These tensions extend from the ongoing issues in Ukraine, Russia, the Middle East, Cuba, and Haiti.
