Four individuals accused of orchestrating the Russia concert hall attack, resulting in the deaths of over 130 individuals, were presented before a Moscow court on Sunday, exhibiting evident signs of severe physical abuse as they confronted formal terrorism accusations.
During the hearing, one of them seemed to be barely conscious.
According to a court announcement, following their arraignment, two of the accused acknowledged their involvement in the assault.
However, concerns were raised about the sincerity of their admissions due to the condition in which they appeared, CBS News reported.
Earlier accounts from Russian media had provided conflicting information, suggesting that three or even all four of the individuals had confessed to their roles in the incident.
The Basmanny District Court in Moscow has officially levied charges against Dalerdzhon Mirzoyev, aged 32; Saidakrami Rachabalizoda, aged 30; Shamsidin Fariduni, aged 25; and Mukhammadsobir Faizov, aged 19, for their alleged involvement in a collective terrorist attack resulting in fatalities.
This crime carries a potential maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
The court has decreed that the individuals, all hailing from Tajikistan, be detained in custody pending trial until May 22nd.
