Iran has accused Israel of bombing its embassy complex in Syria, resulting in the destruction of the consulate building in Damascus and the deaths of at least seven officials, including high-ranking commanders.
Iran has vowed retaliation, warning of a “serious response,” and Hezbollah has promised “punishment and revenge.”
Both Iran and Syria blame Israel for the attack, with Iran also holding the United States “answerable” due to its support of Israel.
Israeli officials have neither confirmed nor denied involvement, but some unnamed officials admitted to carrying out the strike, CNN reported.
The United States denies involvement and asserts that attacks on embassies are considered attacks on the countries they represent.
