SpaceX launches 22 Starlink satellites from California

SpaceX successfully launched another group of Starlink internet satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California after two previous attempts were foiled by bad weather.

The Falcon 9 rocket carrying 22 Starlink spacecraft took off at 10:30 p.m. EDT.

The mission aimed for the Falcon 9’s first stage to return to Earth for a vertical landing on the drone ship “Of Course I Still Love You” in the Pacific Ocean, marking its 15th successful landing.

The upper stage continued to deploy the satellites into low Earth orbit about 62 minutes after liftoff, Space.com reported.

This launch marked the 32nd Falcon 9 flight of 2024 and the 21st dedicated to expanding the Starlink megaconstellation.

SpaceX has already deployed 6,100 Starlink satellites, with plans for more in the future, including up to 42,000 in total.
