Suspect arrested in alleged arson at Bernie Sanders’ Vermont office

A man named Shant Soghomonian, 35, was arrested by authorities for allegedly setting fire to Senator Bernie Sanders’ office in Vermont.

Soghomonian, also known as Michael, was charged with arson for damaging the building in Burlington.

Surveillance footage captured him spraying a liquid and igniting it near the office door before fleeing as the fire spread.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the incident disrupted the office’s operations. Sanders expressed gratitude for the prompt response from law enforcement and the support received, CNN reported.

If convicted, Soghomonian could face significant jail time and fines. Burlington Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak thanked law enforcement for their swift action and offered support to Senator Sanders’ staff.
