A New York appeals court judge denied Donald Trump’s request to pause his hush money trial while he appeals a gag order, following another judge’s rejection of his bid to delay his upcoming criminal trial.
Trump’s attorney argued that the gag order violates his client’s rights, preventing him from commenting on court filings and causing harm.
However, the district attorney’s office countered, stating that the order addresses inflammatory remarks and threats against court staff.
The judge’s ruling allows Trump’s attorneys to present their case to a full panel of appellate judges, NBC News has reported.
Meanwhile, another appellate judge denied Trump’s motion to halt the trial while he appeals on the grounds of unfair trial conditions.
Trump faces charges related to falsifying business records regarding hush money payments to an adult film star during the 2016 presidential election and has pleaded not guilty.
