However, it also condemns abortion, surrogacy, and gender theory as grave threats.

Emphasizing that human dignity stems from being created in the image of God, the document argues against concepts like gender theory and gender reassignment surgery, asserting that they contradict the biblical understanding of male and female.

While some conservative Catholics view the document positively, it has drawn criticism from LGBTQ+ advocacy groups like New Ways Ministry, which argues it fails to apply principles of dignity to transgender individuals, NPR reported.

Catholics for Choice also expresses disappointment, questioning the document’s creation process and its impact on women and gender-diverse individuals within the Catholic community.
