O.J. Simpson dead at 76 after cancer battle

Former NFL running back O.J. Simpson has passed away at the age of 76 after battling cancer, as confirmed by his family.

Simpson, known for his legendary career on the football field, became embroiled in a high-profile murder trial following the brutal slayings of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994.

Despite the widely publicized trial, Simpson was acquitted of the murders in 1995, though he was later found responsible for the deaths in a civil trial.

His legal troubles continued in 2007 when he was arrested for armed robbery in Las Vegas, resulting in a conviction and a lengthy prison sentence, Fox News reported.

Simpson was released on parole in 2017 after serving nine years.

Throughout his NFL career, Simpson achieved numerous accolades, including winning the MVP award in 1973 and setting records for rushing yards per game, leaving a lasting legacy on the sport.
