Since introducing its in-house chips for Macs, Apple has experienced significant performance boosts across its product lineup.
Following the launch of its third-generation M3 chip in October 2023, Apple is now preparing for the release of its next-generation M4 chip later in 2024.
These chips are expected to power every Mac model, prioritizing increased performance and artificial intelligence capabilities.
The M4 lineup will likely include entry-level and higher-end chips, with a focus on handling complex AI and machine learning tasks directly on the device.
Apple is anticipated to unveil the new macOS, alongside other software updates and AI-related features, at its Worldwide Developer Conference in June 2024, The Street has reported.
The M4 chips are expected to debut later this year and into the next. This move could set Apple apart in AI capabilities compared to competitors like Google and Microsoft.
The M4 lineup may also support larger memory capacities, particularly in desktop devices.
While plans may evolve, the focus on enhancing on-device performance for AI workflows remains a key expectation for the M4 chip series.
