Boston Dynamics debuts all-new electric humanoid

Atlas, Boston Dynamics’ humanoid robot, undergoes a transformation from its hydraulic predecessor to a sleek electric version. The new Atlas exhibits fluid movements and a redesigned appearance, departing from its top-heavy build and armored look.

This “All New Atlas” retains its name for now, a departure from the company’s trend of renaming products for commercialization.

The robot’s movements, powered by custom actuators, showcase agility and versatility, highlighting its potential in various industrial applications.

The ability to start from a prone position and navigate tight spaces with minimal turning radius enhances its productivity and adaptability in real-world scenarios, Tech Crunch has reported.

While the video teaser demonstrates impressive capabilities, it’s important to distinguish practical functionality from flashy demonstrations typical of Boston Dynamics’ viral videos.

The electric Atlas is slated for pilot testing at Hyundai facilities, with full production expected in the coming years, signaling a significant step forward in humanoid robotics.
