Ukraine shot down a Russian strategic bomber near its border after the warplane participated in an airstrike that killed eight people, including two children, in Dnipropetrovsk.
The attack caused damage in Dnipro and wounded at least 28 civilians. Russia has intensified its aerial assaults on Ukraine’s infrastructure in recent weeks.
President Zelenskiy urged allies for air defense supplies as Ukraine’s stock dwindles, Reuters has reported.
Ukrainian forces shot down the bomber, which was flying in Russian airspace, using a modified S-200 missile.
The Russian defense ministry claimed the crash was due to technical issues. The crew ejected, with one confirmed dead and one missing.
