NYU in chaos as cops make arrests and clear tents

On Monday night, dozens of protestors were reportedly arrested at an encampment in New York City.

The “Gaza Solidarity Encampment,” organized by hundreds of students and faculty members at New York University’s Gould Plaza, aimed to support Palestine.

Similar protests have been seen at Columbia University and other campuses across the US.

According to the student-run newspaper Washington Square News, police officers used megaphones to order protestors to disperse or face arrest.

Riot gear-clad police lined up at Gould Plaza’s rear and detained those who didn’t comply, the U.S. Sun reported.

Videos from the scene depicted numerous individuals in handcuffs being escorted by the NYPD. Remaining protestors formed a circle around the tents to prevent the encampment’s removal.

Another video showed protestors blocking an NYPD bus, which reportedly held arrested demonstrators.

This incident occurred after Columbia University shifted to online classes due to ongoing protests, now entering their fifth day.
