Police storm Yale with riot gear

Dozens of students were arrested at Yale University’s Connecticut campus early Monday morning during an anti-Israel protest encampment.

The police, dressed in riot gear, detained at least 47 protesters and transported them away from the Ivy League campus.

The students were issued trespassing summonses and will face potential disciplinary action from Yale, including possible suspensions.

The arrests followed police footage showing officers blocking entrances to a plaza where around 200 protesters had gathered, the New York Post reported.

Despite repeated warnings from the police, some students locked arms around a flagpole and sang protest songs.

Others taunted the Yale Police Department and chanted slogans as officers cleared the plaza and dismantled the encampment.

According to a university spokesperson, the decision to arrest those who refused to leave was made to ensure the safety and security of the Yale community and to allow access to university facilities.
