Despite their party differences, Democratic Representative Ro Khanna expressed support for Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson’s voting strategy over the weekend.
Khanna commended Johnson for splitting a bill into four separate pieces, allowing for individual votes on important issues such as foreign aid and TikTok regulation.
Khanna acknowledged his disagreements with Johnson on various matters but appreciated his decision to facilitate separate votes.
Khanna pledged not to support any motion to vacate Johnson’s position as speaker. However, he anticipated that House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries would assume leadership in 2025, the Washington Examiner reported.
With a slim majority, Republicans currently hold 218 seats against Democrats’ 213. Both Johnson and Khanna, who entered the House in 2016, face reelection in 2024.
While some Republicans seek to remove Johnson from his position, Khanna remains supportive of his leadership approach.
